DataCardinal

Welcome to DataCardinal

DataCardinal captures internet service speeds across the Commonwealth of Virginia. With your help, the information provided to this site will be used by the Commonwealth to estimate where high-speed and gigabit internet demand is needed most. This will help focus resources to bring high-speed internet to these areas of need at a faster rate.

Tell your neighbors! The more people that participate in this survey the better idea of demand the Commonwealth will have to target future Broadband expansion projects.

Privacy Policy

  • Survey responses may be displayed geographically to show speeds for campaigns. However, personal information will never be displayed.
  • We may use submitted email addresses to contact people about future campaign information.
  • Any information gathered will never be shared or used outside of campaign purposes.

Your Results May Differ

Your test results from DataCardinal may differ from other speed tests or throughout the day for several reasons. Speed test results change even from hour to hour based on the number of other people using the internet at that time. Additionally, every speed test website uses a different testing method, which can lead to different speed test results. When thinking about speed test results, the most important thing is to compare one tool's results with previous results from the same tool. If you'd like to learn more about DataCardinal's test method, send an email to cgitsupport@vt.edu.
